Zambia National Karate team Coach Allan Mumba has attributed the partitioning of the training camps ahead of tomorrow’s Zone Six Karate Union Championship as due to limited resources.
Mumba said due to limited funds in bringing the team together, the national team was partitioned in three regional groups namely Lusaka, Copperbelt and Southern provinces.
Mumba who drilled the Lusaka based team has however expressed confidence that despite the development, Zambia will reap many medals at the Karate Union Championship.
He told ZANIS Sports in an interview in Lusaka today that the team is adequately prepared for the regional championship.
Zambia is for the first time since 1977 hosting Zone Six Karate Union Championship to be held from June 26 to 29, 2014 at the Mulungushi International Conference Center in Lusaka.
Meanwhile, Zambia Martial Arts Federation president Simba Mangara said all is set for tomorrow’s Zone Six National Karate Union Championships.
Mangara disclosed that a total of 500 athletes from South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and the host Zambia are expected to compete in this regional championship.
He however called on the corporate world to come on board and sponsor the championship
