POLICE in Ndola have arrested Patriotic Front (PF) Mukuba ward councillor Don Botha for allegedly obtaining K12,000 from a woman by false pretences.
Copperbelt commissioner of police Joyce Kasosa confirmed yesterday that the incident happened on June 4, 2014 around 11:00 hours in Kaloko, but that police arrested Botha on Monday.
Ms Kasosa said Botha, 45, of house number 7186 Lubuto township, allegedly obtained K12,000 from Janet Musonda, 30, of house number 2199 New Mushili township on a pretext that he would sell her a residential plot, but it was established that the piece of land belonged to someone else.
She said police have released Botha on bond and he will appear in court soon.
Ms Kasosa also said police in Mufulira are looking for a 25-year-old man who threatened to stab his mother with a knife before stealing two tyres from her vehicle.
Ms Kasosa named the suspect as Mwila Chola of house number 139/2, Kantanshi township while his mother has been named as Bertha Macha, 57, of the same address
She said the incident happened on Monday around 13:30 hours at Ms Macha’s house
Ms Kasosa said Chola will be charged with aggravated robbery when he is apprehended.
