ACCA Director calls for skilled accountants to foster economic growth in Africa

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Sub Saharan Africa Director Jamil Ampomah says there is need to produce highly competent skilled accountants who will contribute to the growth of African economies.

Mr Ampomah observed that producing highly qualified accountants will create demand for professional accountants to be employed in various institutions globally.

He was speaking in Lusaka during the official opening of a two day conference dubbed “Sub-Saharan Africa Learning Providers” which has attracted delegates from 16 different Countries

He explained to the delegates that the Sub-Sahara region has many opportunities for qualified ACCA members.

Mr Ampomah stated that developing economies in Sub-Sahara have created a readily available demand for professional accountants in various sectors.

The Director said training institutions should taller there syllabus to the current business trends occurring on the international global market.

He however expressed worry with the low number of technician accountants in the Sub-Sahara region.

Mr Ampomah said there is urgent need to bridge the existing gap of professional accountants in Sub-Sahara Africa.

He stated that the thriving economies in the region have created demand for competent accountants.

And ACCA Sub-Saharan Director for Learning Alan Hatfield stressed that Sub-Sahara Africa has many opportunities for graduating accountants.
