Veteran politician Vernon Mwaanga has reiterated the need for people in the country to see elections as a conciliatory and developmental tool.
In reference to last month’s Malawi’s elections which brought about political tensions in that country, Mr. Mwaanga says such disputes are avoidable if political leaders learn to accept defeat.
He says Zambian politicians can still learn from Malawi’s election by avoiding confrontations before, during and after elections but to work together harmoniously for the benefit of the country.
He says it is thus important for the elected and defeated leaders in any election to respect the will of the people and offer political support in order to drive the country forward.
Mr. Mwaanga was speaking to QFM news in an interview.
