Govt. begins construction of Mwamba bridge in Kasama
Kasama, June 19th 2014, ZANIS — Government has begun the construction of Mwamba bridge in senior chief Mwamba’s area in Kasama.
ZANIS reports that this came to light when Kasama District Commissioner (DC) Kalanga Bwalya visited the construction site on Tuesday.
Mr. Bwalya expressed happiness at the works that had been done so far on the 20 meter bridge.
He said the works on the bridge was being undertaken by Tomorrow Investment Contractors and was expected to be carried out within six months.
Mr. Bwalya said once the bridge is completed, many people in chief Mwamba’s area will have no difficulties in accessing services or transporting their goods to the market.
He added that the bridge was critical because it also linked chief Mwamba’s palace to the main road.
Mr. Bwalya also inspected several bridges which included Mbesha, Luombe, Lukupa and Chilubanama.
At Chilubanama, the District Commissioner said works to construct the Chilubanama bridge will also begin within the course of next week.
He commended the RDA for the quality works done on the temporal bridges at Luombe and Mbesha.
