——Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Company (CWSCO) has assured Kasama residents that the company will start pumping water at full capacity by the end of this week.
Kasama town has had no piped water for over a week, a development that had been attributed to- (foot valves) that broke down at the treatment center recently.
The water shortage has subjected residents especially women and girls to fetching water from streams and shallow wells – presenting a health hazard on their part and their families.
And CWSC Technical director Willard Mutoka says his company was making frantic efforts to correct the situation.
He said spare parts had already been procured from SARO-AGRO to replace the broken down equipment.
He said this when Northern Province permanent secretary Hlobotha Nkunika toured the water treatment plant run by the company today,
He appealed to locals to fetch their water supplies from water browsers that government had dispatched in the townships to cushion the impact of the water shortage
