A MAN in his 30′s has been brutally slain in a suspected ritual murder with his private parts, heart and tongue plucked out by assailants who later dumped his body in a quarry in Lusaka’s Kamwala South.
Police have since arrested four men who were found with private parts in connection with the gruesome murder.
The body also had the throat slit, a deep hole on the left side of the chest and another deep cut on the right side of the cheek with both wrists bruised.
Passers-by discovered the body yesterday around 06:00 hours in a ditch near the railway line between Misisi and Royal Temple International Church.
Police in Lusaka have apprehended four people in connection with the murder of the man only identified as Haggai of Misisi Township.
The four unnamed suspects believed to be behind the brutal killing were found in possession of the male private parts of the deceased.
Police spokesperson Charity Chanda confirmed the arrest of the four suspects who were apparently picked a few hours after the body was discovered.
“Haggai is suspected to have been murdered between June 15 and 16 at an unknown time. We are yet to establish the motive behind the killing,” she said.
The body is lying in UTH mortuary and the recovered body parts have also been taken to the same hospital for an expert opinion.
Meanwhile, residents of Kamwala South close to the murder scene have expressed fear stating that this might be the beginning of yet another series of such brutal killings highly suspected to be ritual.
Bridget Chishimba, who wept upon seeing Haggai’s body, said she was planning to relocate to another township for the safety of her family and husband who she said performed night shifts at his work place.
Another resident who preferred anonymity said the area had become dangerous especially with the numerous open quarries which act as hiding places for the criminals.
The Kamwala South area, that is separated from Misisi Township by the railway line has of late recorded brutal attacks and aggravated robberies on unsuspecting residents in the nights.
