IN a case with all the hallmarks of a ritual murder, police in Lusaka have arrested four men who were found with a man’s genitals.
Police spokesperson Charity Chanda said the victim only identified as Haggai was aged between 30 and 35 years old.
Ms Chanda said in a statement yesterday that the incident happened in the early hours of yesterday and the body was discovered in a ditch by passers-by on the railway line between Misisi township and Royal Temple International Church.
“The body had a deep cut on the right cheek, the throat was completely cut off and private parts removed,” she said.
Ms Chanda said police are investigating the motive behind the gruesome murder.
The body is in Lusaka’s University Teaching Hospital (UTH) mortuary and the recovered body parts have also been taken to the same hospital for analysis.
Meanwhile, Ms Chanda said police yesterday recorded a warn-and-caution statement from Hot FM radio station manager Changwe Kabwe for alleged publication of false news with intent to cause fear and alarm to the public.
Mr Kabwe is alleged to have aired a news item between May 26 and 27 this year alleging that President Sata had been evacuated to South Africa for medical attention after collapsing.
And Ms Chanda said investigations into the case in which a Post journalist is alleged to have been assaulted by police officers are on course.
