ZAMBIA and Russia should take their mutual friendship into the economic sphere to increase trade between the two countries.

Home Affairs Deputy Minister Stephen Kampyongo said recently that Russia should take advantage of Zambia’s undeveloped industry and the good investment environment to come and do business in all sectors.
Mr Kampyongo said the two countries should explore joint venture partnerships to improve the bilateral relations that exist between Lusaka and Moscow.
There are many economic prospects in Zambia that the Russian investors can exploit, such as agriculture, tourism, energy, infrastructure development, health, education and mining, among other sectors.
Mr Kampyongo said Government is looking forward to the growth of the Russo-Zambia friendship for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
Government is hopeful that the two countries will establish joint venture projects that will help improve their bilateral trade.
“We, therefore, wish to call upon the Russian entrepreneurs to explore the business opportunities available in Zambia in priority areas such as agriculture, tourism, energy, infrastructure development, health, education and mining, among others,” Mr Kampyongo said on Russia’s national day in Lusaka on Tuesday.
He assured Russian investors that Zambia is an oasis of peace and as such, their businesses are safe.
Earlier, Russian ambassador to Zambia Konstantin Kozhanov said Russia has made significant contribution to the creation of wealth in country.
Mr Kozhanov said there is a steady growth of activities of Russian state and privately-owned enterprises doing business in the country.
“Zambia has actively helped Russia to open the richest and unique world of the African continent and at the same time to open Russia for Africa. Zambia has given us weighty support in world affairs,” he said.
