Christopher Katongo’s proposed move to Chippa United looks unlikely to occur, as the Zambian striker is asking for more money before signing with the Mother City club.
Chippa Mpengesi confirmed last week that Katongo agreed to join the Chilli Boys on a two-year deal from next season, but the deal couldn’t be concluded.
A source at United has now confirmed that the former Jomo Cosmos hitman wanted the initial agreement to be ammended as he feels that the money is too low.
“Katongo agreed to join us before going to Zambia, and we expected him to sign on the dotted lines last Monday, but he said he wants more money before signing,” the source told Goal.
However, the club boss hasn’t given up on acquiring Katongo’s services, although it is suspected that other PSL clubs might have promised him something better.
“Our chairman is still dealing with the issue, but I think we have competition from other clubs because there’s no way a player would want more money out of nowhere,” added our source.
Let’s hope he will sign so that he won’t b clubless
