Chief Chimbuka of Chinsali has come under attack for stating that UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has no right to comment on the impasse surrounding the recognition of Henry Kanyanta Sosala as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu.
A cross section of society has condemned chief Chimbuka over what is being perceived as tribal remarks.
The Bemba Royal Establishment said all well-meaning Zambians regardless of their tribal or regional inclination are free to speak out on the delay by government to recognize paramount Chief Chitimukulu.
MMD Northern Province Information and Publicity Secretary, Cephas Bwalya appealed to Bashi Lubemba to immediately drop Chief Chimbuka for the remarks.
Mr Bwalya charged that the move by government to interfere in matters concerning the Bemba Royal tradition might divide the Bemba land.
• And a concerned citizen, Berrington Sichande said it is unjustifiable for the traditional leader to condemn Mr Hichilema for commenting on a matter which he said concerns everyone.
Meanwhile, opposition United Liberal party (ULP) President Sakwiba Sikota says Chief Mukuni of the Toka Leya should be commended for the bravery he has exhibited to stand up for Henry Sosala as the rightful Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba speaking people.
Mr. Sikota said Chief Mukuni has raised valid points by stating that issues related to chiefs are the preserve for the traditional establishments in the country.
He has since implored other traditional leaders in the country to emulate Chief Mukuni.
