Kasama has been hit a with a critical water shortage since Friday last week forcing residents to draw the commodity from shallow wells.
And Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Kasama District Manager Tenally Kamungu said the water shortage was as a result of a mechanical fault at the treatment plant which has since been worked on.
A survey by ZANIS this morning found most residents fetching for water from shallow wells and described the development as sad adding that it could lead to an outbreak of diarrhoea disease.
The residents have since called on Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Company to quickly ensure that water supply is restored as they are unable to do their house chores as expected.
And Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Kasama District Manager Tenally Kamungu said the water shortage was as a result of a mechanical fault at the treatment plant which has since been worked on.
Mr. Kamungu, when reached for comment , assured Kasama residents of normal water supply as the company has started pumping the water.
