The United National Independence Party (UNIP) in Northern Province has backed the move taken by MMD to start receiving applications from interested members wishing to contest the looming Kasama central by election.

Speaking to mano news today, UNIP Provincial Chairperson Freedom Kafunda noted that it is a common knowledge that the ruling party has commenced campaigns even before the seat is declared vacant.

Mr. Kafunda added that it is not fair for PF Kasama Constituency Chairperson Fidelis Chishoma to castigate MMD for calling for applicant to contest the pending parliamentary by election when the ruling party is allegedly going round conducting campaigns.

Yesterday, PF Kasama Central Constituency Chairperson Fidelis Chishoma described as uncalled-for remarks attributed to MMD Information and Publicity Secretary, Cephas Bwalya’s call on members of the public to apply for adaptation in the pending by-election in the Constituency.

Mr. Chishoma was reacting to revelations that MMD has received an overwhelming response of people wishing to contest in the looming Kasama central by election.
