By MOSES CHIMFWEMBE –
EXCITING Nkana midfielder Shadreck Musonda has been left out of the squad that left for Tunisia yesterday for this weekend CAF 2014
Confederation Cup Group B match against Etoile du Sahel.
Caretaker coach Zeddy Saileti said in an interview before departure that Musonda has remained behind following an illness
Saileti said the Zambian champions will miss the services of Musonda as he has been instrumental member of the team that left for Tunisia
seeking a first win following a defeat and draw.
He was, however, happy to have the services of defender Christopher Munthali who missed Nkana’s opening Group B matches owing to
suspension.
“We miss the services of Musonda for this weekend’s game against the Tunisians. He suffered Malaria yesterday (Sunday) and will not be part
of the team and we have made the necessary changes to cover up for him.
The return of Munthali is a major boost as you know Billy Mwanza is suspended for this match and so we are happy that Chris is back in the
team,” he said.
Buoyed by the 5-1 win over Green Buffalos on Saturday in the MTN-FAZ League Week 11 match at Nkana Stadium, Saileti has declared his
charges ready for battle.
He said the Buffalos game was a good preparation for the continental tie as it raised the team spirit ahead of Etoile clash.
Saileti said his charges had gained enough motivation from their game against Bizertin and that they were resolved to go for an outright
victory.
“The team is fully prepared for the game and the players are determined to deliver a positive result that will be crucial to our progress in the competition,” he said.
Nkana is bottom of the group with a single point while Al Ahly is top on four points with Etoile and Sewe Sport tied on two points in second
and third respectively. Sewe will be hosting Al Ahly in Abijan on Sunday.
