Government says it will soon construct an artificial insemination centre at Mutanda to increase livestock production in Solwezi district.
Solwezi district commissioner Crispin Likando says this was because government wants to see the an increased livestock sector in the district.
He said the project is also aimed at increasing access to quality breeding stock by small scale farmers.
ZANIS reports that the District Commissioner said this during the 53rd district agricultural show in Solwezi District, at the weekend.
Mr Likando said the installation of spray races and staff houses at Saint Dorothy and Muyashi livestock centres will commence as soon as funds are released.
He said funds have also been allocated in this year’s budget for the purchase of breeding cattle to stock Jiwundu breeding center.
