And speaking when he made a stopover in Nyimba district, Dr. Mumba called on MMD members in the district to ensure that no one is allowed to divide them and thereby destabilize the party in the province.
Dr. Mumba says Eastern Province was once the bed room of the former party hence any destabilization in the province would have serious consequences on its quest to bounce back to power in 2016.
He assured party officials in the District who had gathered as early as 14:00hrs hours on Saturday but who were only addressed around 19:00hrs when he arrived, that the in-fighting at the party’s national secretariat will soon come to an end.
He has also affirmed to party members that what has been happening in the party will only make it stronger in readiness for the challenge ahead of the 2016 general elections.
And Dr. Mumba has called on members in Eastern province to identify potential parliamentary candidates for the pending by-elections and for the 2016 general elections.
He notes it was for the same reasoFn he was in the Province to flag off the identification process for potential candidates and that it was the duty of members to ensure that they submit names of people that they can work with and will remain committed to the party after becoming Members Parliament.
Dr. Mumba has particularly requested members to quickly recommend a list of names so that the party’s National Executive committee (NEC) can start working with the recommended individuals in reorganizing and mobilizing the party.
He says party members should keep in mind that the failure by the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) to deliver on its promises has presented an opportunity for the MMD to bounce back to power in 2016.
