A thirty three year old woman of Livingstone’s Indeco area has been raped and strangled in her house by an unknown assailant.

The incident happened in the early hours of today and her body was found dumped fifty meters from her house.

Livingstone District Police Officer Commanding, Joseph Chitambo confirmed the killing to ZNBC News on Friday.

According to one of the neighbours, Patrick Chongwe says his wife found the naked and lifeless body of the woman identified as Harriet Mbulo behind their house around 05:00 hours as she was sweeping the yard.

Harriet, a widow, leaves behind three children.

Meanwhile, five people including a Namibian national have been arrested in Sesheke and Senanga districts in Western Province for illegal timber trade.

The five were arrested during a tour of Western Province forests by Ministry of Lands, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Permanent Secretary Inutu Suba.

And three trucks laden with Timber have also been impounded in the Sesheke district.

Western Province Forestry Officer Moses Mwabunga says Simata Nalishebo and Kamwengo Lubinda from Senanga were arrested on Wednesday while Simasiku Chikambi Sikuku Siluka of Sesheke and Daniel Van Zyl of Namibia were arrested on Thursday.

The suspects were arrested for producing and loading timber illegally.

And Ms Suba says the illegal movement of Timber locally and across the border is a big problem that needs concerted efforts to be curbed.
