Members of the royal family and hundreds of subjects yesterday converged at Zambezi Airstrip to receive the body of Chieftainess Kucheka of the Luvale people who died last Saturday.
The body of the chieftainess Kucheka arrived at Zambezi Airstrip at 10.00 hours aboard a Zambia Air Force helicopter.
Today the body of the late traditional leader is expected to be transported to Zambezi West bank where it will lie in state until tomorrow when burial is expected to take place at the royal grave yard in Kucheka area.
Chieftainess Kucheka died at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka where she was evacuated last week.
She has until her death reigned for eight years on the Kucheka throne to which she ascended in 2006.
She leaves behind a husband and four children.
