A 48 year old man of Mpepo Village in Mpika District of Muchinga Province has axed his 14 year old biological daughter to death.
Muchinga Deputy Police Commissioner Bonny Kapeso confirmed the incident to ZANIS in Mpika.
Mr. Kapeso said Cleopatra Bwalya of the same house was axed on the head by her father William Bwalya.
Mr. Kapeso said the development happened yesterday at around 08:00 hours.
He said Cleopatra sustained four deep cuts on the head and was later rushed to Mpika District Community Hospital where she later died the same day.
Mr Kapeso said the motive behind the killing is not yet known though it is believed that the deceased‘s parents where on separation due to her father’s brutal behaviour.
He added that Bwalya‘s charge has changed from unlawful wounding to murder.
Mr Kapeso said the suspect Bwalya is still on the run.
The deputy commissioner of police has since appealed to members of the public to be on the lookout and report any suspicious person to the nearest police station.
