Former president Rupiah Banda says Zambia is a blessed and great nation.
Mr Banda says Zambia is a very special country and Zambians have a duty to lead exemplary lives.
He was speaking during the Blowing of the Jubilee Trumpet prayers at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka on Saturday.
At the same function,freedom fighter Mama Kankasa says she is happy that young people are implementing the One Zambia, One Nation motto through inter-marriages.
Mama Kankasa also called on Zambians to congratulate President Michael Sata and his administration for the Maize Bumper Harvest.
The ceremony was attended by senior government officials,former first ladies Mrs. Maureen Mwanawasa and Regina Chiluba and some opposition leaders.
