On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation, ZNBC, we today announce the resignation of Mr Chibamba Kanyama as Director General.
Mr Kanyama was appointed Chief Executive on March 6, 2012 and he is destined to take up an appointment with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The position of IMF Communications Advisor was advertised globally and Mr Kanyama has since been appointed to the position. Mr Kanyama has the full support of the Board for this appointment. I also thank the Government for having supported Mr. Kanyama’s candidature.
While it is sad we are bidding farewell to our colleague, it is also a happy occasion for us, because he will not only raise the country’s flag higher but also carry the flag of ZNBC to the rest of the world.
The Board is deeply grateful to Mr Kanyama for his significant contributions and outstanding service throughout the period he has been at the helm of the Corporation. We believe his passion for the Broadcast Media and His relentless focus on the job, has repositioned ZNBC as a leading Media House in the country. Mr Kanyama remains in office up to 15th June, 2014 to manage the transition after which the Board will make an announcement about the process for identifying the successor.
The Board, therefore, assures all its stakeholders to continue to support ZNBC during this transitional period. We see this as an opportunity to drive ZNBC’s business forward and accelerate the Corporation’s transformational efforts.
I thank you.
