Zambia national team Under-20 coach Hector Chilombo has declared his charges ready for this weekend’s 2015 Africa Youth Championship qualifier against Mozambique.
Young Chipolopolo face Mozambique away in a second round, first leg match in Maputo.
This will be Chilombo’s sides first qualifying match on the road to Senegal after enjoying a first round bye.
“Everyone is looking forward to get a positive result against Mozambique. They have played two games and have been active,” Chilombo said.
Hosts’ Mozambique advanced to the second round after eliminating Namibia 4-2 on aggregate following a 2-1 away win in Windhoek in the final leg on April 26.
“In terms of preparations we are satisfied because we have been camped for one month. We are ready for battle,” Chilombo said.
Zambia will host Mozambique in the final leg on May 24 with the winner over both legs advancing to the third and final qualifying round where they await winner of the other second round tie between Malawi and DR Congo this August.
Meanwhile, Chilombo is on Wednesday expected to trim his team 18 from the 24 currently in camp ahead of this weekend’s first leg meeting.
Zambia have not qualified to the Africa Youth Championships since finishing fourth in 2007.
