The Zambia Under-20 national soccer team has stepped up preparations for this weekend’s African Youth championship first leg qualifier against Mozambique.
A check by ZNBC Sports this afternoon found the junior Chipolopolo busy training under the guidance of new head coach Hector Chilombo, and assistant Bilton Musonda.
And team Manager Daniel Jere says the coming of Chilombo has not affected the boys in any way as they are already familiar with him.
Meanwhile, former National Soccer Team Coach Herve Renard’s Soachaux are on the verge of avoiding relegation after a 2-0 win over Niece.
An own goal by Nemanja Pejcinovic and a strike from Jordan Ayew handed them a crucial 2-0 win over Nice, who are still to secure their top-flight survival for next season.
Soachaux now needs a point to avoid relegation with two games to go.
Sochax has three Zambian international Stoppilla Sunzu, Emmanuel Mayuka and Nathan Sinkala. Sunzu played 90 minutes while compatriot Mayuka came on late in second half for Ayew with Sinkala suspended.
Renard’s charges next faces Rennes before winding down with fellow relegation battlers Evian TG on the final day of the season.
