The opposition United National Independence Party (UNIP) in Northern Province has called on the ruling PF to restrain its party cadres from engaging in violence.
Provincial UNIP Chairperson Freedom Kafunda charged that it is unacceptable for PF cadres to go on rampage harassing people anyhow.
Mr Kafunda said it is high time the violent behavior of cadres was put to an end.
In a related development, the Labor movement has condemned the increasing political violence in the country.
Zambia Congress of Trade Union (ZCTU) secretary general Roy Mwaba said political party leaders have a duty to restrain their cadres from engaging in violence.
Mr Mwaba has since urged police to deal with perpetrators of violence regardless of political affiliation.
