Transparency International Zambia -TIZ has demanded immediate action on all irregularities cited in the 2012 audit report of accounts of parastatal bodies.
TIZ Executive Director Goodwell Lungu says the 2012 Auditor General’s report clearly indicates that most parastatals failed to produce financial statements.
Mr Lungu says poor management of contracts, poor financial performance, administration of loans and questionable investments should not go unpunished.
MR. Lungu notes that the report confirms the Zambia Development Agency -ZDA Director General was to be receiving donor funded monthly income amounting to 2 Thousand US Dollars in addition to his salary.
In a statement to ZNBC news Mr Lungu notes that clause 5.2 of the ZDA Director General’s contract exempted the additional monthly income from Pay As You Earn -PAYE tax.
And Mr. Lungu says on 30th July 2012 a Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission -CEEC Director Empowerment was paid car maintenance allowance amounting to 13 Million Kwacha old currency despite having been provided with a CEEC vehicle contrary to terms and conditions of service.
Mr. Lungu has since appealed to President Michael Sata to lay off Chief Executive Officers who are involved in irregularities.
