The construction works of the K3.6 million regional laboratory for animal health and disease control in North western province has reached 80 percent.
The works are complete and the contractor Jearmy Enterprise is expected to hand over the project to government by the end of May 2014.
North-western Province Agriculture Coordinator Derrick Simukanzye confirmed the development to ZANIS in Solwezi yesterday.
Mr Simukanzye said despite the contractor having challenges during the just ended rain season, the project is on course.
He has since expressed happiness with the quality of workmanship.
The Agriculture Coordinator said once completed the laboratory will help the ministry carry out tests on animal diseases within the province without taking samples to Lusaka as is the case now.
The laboratory is a two storey building and will have six laboratories and eight offices.
