Chongwe,April 28,2014—-Government says strong marriages are a cornerstone of stable families and prosperous nation.
And a Catholic Priest has observed infidelity and other social ills among new and old couples as contributing factors to broken homes.
Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Wamunyima Muwana, says strong marriages are key to a stable family that can contribute meaningfully to national development.
Mr Muwana says government will continue promoting stable marriages in order to foster harmony and development in the country.
He said this through a representative, Chongwe District Commissioner, Kebby Kashinamilunda, during the wedding reception of Kacha Miyoba and Doris Hamweendo in Chongwe over the weekend.
The Permanent Secretary pointed out strong marriages also help in mitigating some of the social ills in the country.
Earlier, St. Paul’s Catholic Church Parish Priest in Chongwe, Gabriel Mwanamwalye, observed that infidelity among couples has destroyed many marriages in the country.
Fr Mwanamwalye explained that it was not difficult to be faithful to one another but people have continued to have extra marital affairs.
He pointed out that many couples have also ended up in infecting each other with sexually transmitted diseases in the process.
