THE Zambia Under-20 soccer team regroups tomorrow in Lusaka to intensify preparations for next month’s African Youth Championship qualifier.
Coach George Lwandamina has summoned 27 players to a training camp set for the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Technical Centre.
FAZ communications manager, Nkweto Tembwe said the players needed to take the camp seriously to ensure Zambia qualifies to the Africa Under-20 Championships to be staged in Senegal in March next year.
Zambia is awaiting the winner of a first round qualifier between Mozambique and Nambia in the second stage of the continental journey.
Mozambique are leading 2-1 from the first leg played in Maputo a fortnight ago.
The two teams play the second leg in Windhoek, Namibia this weekend with the winner set to play Zambia on the weekend of May 9-11.
The return match in Zambia has been set for the weekend of May 23-25.
Leading the Zambian team will be Godfrey Ngwenya and Lubambo Musonda alongside Langson Mbewe, Austin Muwowo and Chibuye Mulilo.
Also in the mix are Mangani Banda, Geoffrey Silavwe, Samson Banda, Timothy Sakala, Benedict Chepeshi, Boyd Mkandawire, David Nsama, Kayawe Kapota, Paul Phiri, Alex Mwamba, Simon Tembo, Jonathan Ng’uni, Juma Mutale and Evans Bwembya.
Others are George Mandu, Larry Bwalya, Langson Mbewe, Charles Zulu, Spencer Sautu, Chibuye Mulilo, John Musonda, Patrick Ngoma, Maxwell Malutula, Dave Daka, Austin Muwowo and Saith Sakala.
