The newly established SADC Fashion Week on Tuesday announced its top 23 shortlisted candidates that will be part of the SADC Fashion Week to be held for the first time in Zimbabwe in June.
Namibian male and female models top the shortlist with ten candidates, followed by Botswana with four and Zimbabwe and Zambia each with three while South Africa has two and Angola one model.
According to the organisers of the SADC Fashion Week, the shortlisted candidates will go to the fashion week to showcase collections from different SADC designers. However, the 23 candidates will again compete for the title of Face of SADC Fashion Week, whereby only two candidates (one male and one female) will be chosen to represents the Face of SADC Fashion Week.
The search for Face of SADC Fashion Week competition began January this year. Entries calls were made on SADC Fashion Week Facebook fan page, whereby contestants were given a chance to upload their three pictures and get more likes to be nominated.
The winners of Face of SADC Fashion Week will be given the platform for media exposure through Billboards, Banners, Televisions Interviews, Radios, Magazines, and all other media platforms before, during and after the show, until the year 2015. They will become the model representatives of the brand as well.
Miss Youth Namibia, Dorcas Deizzy Mbevo, has also been shortlisted, says she is very excited to be honoured and this is a great platform and opportunity for her to shine abroad. She however encourages Namibians to search the SADC Fashion Week fan page and starts liking their pictures for the final competition.
