The Boeing 737 turned around in midair and returned to Kuala Lumpur after a tire burst on takeoff. The crew and passengers of Flight MH 192 will try again on Monday as crews continue to search the Indian Ocean for Malaysia Airlines 370, which disappeared on March 8.

A Malaysia Airlines jetliner has made an emergency landing six weeks after Flight 370 disappeared.

Flight 192 pulled a U-turn in the air on Sunday after a tire on the plane’s right side burst during takeoff, the airline said in a statement.

The flight carrying 159 passengers and seven crew members was bound for Bangalore, India but hightailed it back to the Kuala Lumpur airport after the airtrafic controllers learned about busted tire and notified the pilot.

The troubled Boeing 737 landed safely and was met on the runway in Malaysia by the the airport’s fire-and-rescue squads, airline officials said.

Despite the near disaster, the passengers won’t stay grounded for long. Airline officials reschedule the flight for 3:30 p.m. (3:30 a.m. ET) on Monday.

The incident provided a tense few hours as airline officials tweeted updates on the flight’s progress.

“Flight MH192 that departed from KUL at 10.09pm bound for Bangalore has made an air turn back towards KUL.”
