The PF in Lusaka and Copperbelt Provinces has dismissed claims by UPND president Hakainde Hichilema that he was attacked by PF cadres while featuring on a radio station in Ndola.

Mr. Clement Katongo says investigations carried out by the party have revealed that claims by the opposition party leader were not true.

Mr Katongo said findings by the party are that Mr Hichilema was attacked by ordinary citizens who were not happy with his attacks on President Michael Sata.
The PF member said this during a press briefing in Lusaka April 18th

He said the PF on the Copperbelt was not even aware of Mr. Hichilema’s presence in Ndola because he was not a factor on the Copperbelt.

Mr. Katongo , who is also Lusaka Province Information and Publicity Secretary, said PF was the most peaceful party in Zambia.
He added that insults and defamatory stories on the president through on-line media was the worst form of violence.

He said the PF in Lusaka and Copperbelt has resolved to use all means at their disposal to trace all individuals who were behind malicious attacks on the president on on-line media.

Mr. Katongo said the party has instructed all their members and supporters countrywide to help identify people behind on-line publications so that they are dealt with in accordance with the law.

He however said if law enforcers fail to deal with such people, the party will have no choice but deal with the culprits itself.

Mr. Katongo said PF has no problems with people critizing the party but will not take kindly to insults and lies being peddled against President Sata on on-line publications.

And speaking earlier Lusaka Province PF chairperson Geoffrey Chuumbwa has called on all oppositions party leaders to respect the President.

Mr. Chuumbwa said President Sata deserves respect because as Head of State he was also president of the opposition party leaders.

He has also called on PF youths to actively play their role of protecting the President from unwarranted attacks from the opposition.
