Zambian voice has charged that finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda and Bank of Zambia governor Micheal Gondwe are responsible for the increase in the fuel price.

Zambian Voice Executive Director Chilufya Tayali has told Qfm news in an interview that government must show that they are capable of controlling the situation before it gets worse and ensure that the prices of basic commodities are reduced.

Mr. Tayali notes that the people of zambia are already living in poverty and should not be thrown into more poverty by people’s inefficiencies.

Mr.Tayali stresses that that it is a well know fact that the increase in fuel price is as a result of the depreciation of the kwacha and has thus advised government to quickly come up with long term measure to stabilizing the kwacha citing that failure to control the depreciation of the kwacha will lead to the increase in many other things.

Mr.Tayali says government should learn to listen to the people because people saw this coming and advised government to look into it before things could get worse but did not listen.

He says government should go back to its drawing board and learn from the mistakes it has made in the recent past which have impacted negatively on the lives of the poor Zambians.

He further states that the increase in the prices of many commodities is a sign that the patriotic front has failed the people of Zambia.
