Ugandan teenage rally driver Shafik Semujju has revealed that he will make his maiden appearance in this year’s Africa Rally championship (ARC) event at the Zambia International Rally.
Speaking to Kawowo Sports, Semujju who is amongst the three Ugandans registered for this year’s ARC stated that he is ready and raring to start his campaign in Zambia after missing events in Ivory Coast (Bandama Rally) and South Africa (Sasol Rally).
“I am looking forward to starting my season in Zambia,” Semujju said. “I am ready for the event and has already confirmed participation with the authorities,” he added.
On what Ugandans and his fans should expect, Semujju says he will do whatever he can to finish but expects tough competitions from seasoned campaigners.
“It’s my first championship and so my aim is to finish the rally. Nevertheless, am ready to give it everything but remember it’s an event with seasoned drivers,” he asserted.
Semujju alongside former champion Charles Muhangi and Hajji Abdul Sempebwa are the only Ugandans registered for this year’s ARC. Unlike Semujju and Sempebwa, Muhangi took part in the Bandama Rally though he didn’t complete the event and missed the Sasol Rally due to personal problems.
The Zambia International Rally is scheduled between May 16th – May 18th, 2014.
