The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has warned motorists across the country to adhere to road traffic regulations during the Easter holidays.
The Agency says in conjunction with the Zambia Police it will this weekend deploy its officers to conduct highway patrols and check point in all provinces of Zambia as part of the preventive measures for accidents.
This is according to a statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka today by RTSA Senior Public Relations Manager Mercy Mwila.
Ms Mwila says in Lusaka, RTSA will mount road blocks along Lusaka-Luangwa road, Lusaka-Mumbwa road, Lusaka-Mazabuka road and along Lusaka-Landless corner mumbwa road.
She added that in Muchinga the officers will be on Serenje-Mpika and Mpika-Nakonde roads.
On the copperbelt province, the team will be in Ndola at Ndola-Mpongwe turn-ff and on Chingola-Solwezi road whereas in Western province the officers will be in Mongu, she said.
The teams will also be in Southern Province on Mazabuka-Choma and Choma Kazungula roads while in Eastern province, the officers will man Luangwa-Chipata and Lundazi Kazungula roads.
The patrol teams will concentrate on areas such as unlicensed driving, drink-driving, overspeeding, careless and dangerous driving and overloading.
