Government says the attack on  opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) Hakainde Hichilema by suspected Patriotic Front (PF) cadres at Sun fm in Ndola on Saturday  was  unfortunate.

Copperbelt Minister Mwenya Musenge  says  government regrets the alleged attack saying  activities of violence defeats principles of multi-partism in the country.

The Minister told journalists at his office in Ndola  that government is not in support of such kind of activities as they are uncalled for.

Mr. Musenge advised political leaders who wish to appear on radio stations to be informing the police for security purposes.

He also advised the media to take precautions by rehearsing with the police whenever they intend to feature a political leader for their safety and protection of equipment as they play an important role in disseminating information to the public.

Mr. Musenge however noted that the opposition political party leaders should be mindful that each political party has its stronghold and so they should avoid issuing statements that may anger people.

He also emphasized on the need for parties to co-exist saying it is the reason why there is multi-partism in the country.

On Saturday, suspected PF cadres attacked opposition UPND Leader and his team when he featured on Sun fm radio in Ndola on a live radio programme.
