The African Development Bank (AfDB) has funded the drilling of 20 boreholes in Nsama district.
Nsama District Council Social Planner Collins Mubalu disclosed this during a meeting whose agenda was to form the District Water and Sanitation Health and Hygiene (D-WASHE) Committee.
Mr Mubalu said that this was in addition to the 15 boreholes that were earlier drilled by the bank.
He said with the coming of the additional water points, the boreholes will cushion the challenges the community of Nsama was experiencing in the past.
Mr Mubalu said members of the D-WASHE now had a task of identifying areas
in the district that were in dire need of clean and safe drinking water.
He said accessing quality water was a great challenge for the people in the area.
Mr Mubala was hopeful that with the formation of the committee, issues of
sanitation and provision of clean water to residents would be prioritized.
