A RESCUE mission by a Kabwe man to stop an attempted defilement of two girls has cost him his life after the girls’ assailant vented his anger and stoned him to death, Police in Kabwe said.
The deceased has been identified as Brian Mulenga whose heroic attempts cost him his life. The incident happened in Pollen Township on Monday around 19:30 hours.
Central Province Police chief, Standwell Lungu said the victim heard two girls aged 12 and 14 years crying for help as their assailant dragged them into a nearby maize field.
The late Mulenga rushed to help the girls but the attacker descended on him and hit him with a stone.

“The man then started screaming for help and other members of the public rushed to the scene to help him. They apprehended the suspect but unfortunately it was too late, the man died but the we have the suspect in Police custody,” Mr Lungu said.
He said the two girls escaped unhurt in the process while the suspect was identified as Morgan Chola.
Meanwhile, a 15-year-old girl Ndola was found dead at her boyfriend’s house on Monday.
The deceased’s boyfriend, Raphet Sakala aged 22 and his younger brother Sandy Mwenya, have been arrested for allegedly murdering the teenager in Kang’onga area.
The teenager was found with a swollen neck when her body was retrieved around 07:00 hours by Police.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner Joyce Kasosa said in an interview that the two brothers would appear in court soon as investigations continue.
