Govt. completes construction of Dip tanks in Mazabuka District

Mazabuka, April 7th, 2014, ZANIS —  Government says it  has completed the construction of  nine  dip tanks at a cost of K300,000 in five agriculture camps in Mazabuka district with an aim of controlling tick borne disease outbreak  in the area.

Mazabuka district livestock officer Izen Mweetwa confirmed then development in an interview, in Mazabuka District today.

 

Mr. Mweetwa noted that only one dipping tank is functional from the nine completed dipping tanks as farmers are waiting for government to purchase dipping chemicals for them.

Among the benefiting agriculture camps included Konkola, Hanjalika, Ngwezi, Chalimbana and Kalambabakali, reespectively.

Mr. Mweetwa also noted that government has completed the construction of 2 livestock service centres at a total value of K270, 000.

He named the recipient areas of livestock service centres as chief Mwanachingwala and chief Hanjalika’s chiefdoms.

Mr. Mweetwa stated that the livestock service centres that have Dipping tank facilities, boreholes and holding and crush pens are
meant to control livestock diseases in the area.

”The livestock service centres are also fitted with pit latrines to improve on sanitary conditions when farmers come to dip the animals,” added Mr. Mweetwa.
