SLAIN National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) student, Ruth Mbandu’s uncle, George Kalomo has said he has regained his freedom because he kept faith in God even during almost two years of incarcerated
Pastor Kalomo was arrested and charged with the murder of Ruth between July 13-14 in 2012 along with other suspects, Edward Siandima and Collins Sooma.
Pastor Kalomo was discharged by the Lusaka High Court on Monday after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mutembo Nchito entered a nolle prosequi while Siandima and Sooma’s case would continue on May 12, for trial within trial
“Nothing happens for nothing and whatever happens is for a great purpose,” Pastor Kalomo said in an interview yesterday.
Pastor Kalomo said God was always in control of the situation and that he owed everything to Him.
He commended the State through the office of the DPP for granting him back his freedom and that he had no hard feelings with authorities for what he went through.
“I am very excited that I am reuniting with my family after a long time. The Lord has really been there for me. The past is gone now I have to focus on the future and continue working for God and live a life that is pleasing to Him,” he said.
Pastor Kalomo of Mt Zion Spirit church encouraged his two co-accused Sooma and Siandima who are still standing trial to trust and believe in God.
The brutal killing stirred public outcry after Ruth, who was 19-years-old, was found with her facial skin peeled off, her eyes and ears removed and her body dumped near her home on notorious Devil Street in Lusaka’s Emmasdale area.
Pastor Kalomo was discharged in accordance with section 81 (2) chapter 88 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

  1. What freedom are you talking about? You are a fake pastor! Your soul is roting in hell! Unless you repent you shall die in sin. What freedom are you talking about if your spirit is languishing in yourself?
You have sucrificed your own blood that’s what you agreed with authorities and they set u free as planned.
