Acting Farm Manager at the Farmers Training Centre (FTC) in Mufumbwe District in North-Western province, Dave Muyoba, has called on farmers in the district to utilize the centre to improve their farming activities.
Speaking an interview with ZANIS in Mufumbwe, Mr Muyoba said local farmers need to engage with experts for them to understand some of the best farming practices.
Mr Muyoba said not only is the centre open to farmers but it is also offering a free service on how best to manage crop in the district.
The FTC acting farm manager advised farmers to adhere to instructions given to them such as the right time to plant their seeds and how to rotate their crops.
In a separate interview, SeedCo Assistant Sales Agronomist, Zalila Banda, said his seed company will continue sensitizing farmers on the benefits of proper farm management.
Mr Banda said this is one sure way of assisting farmers in the district to increase their yield.
Meanwhile, District Agricultural Chairman (DAC), Derrick Akufuna, has called for collaboration among stakeholders in Mufumbwe.
Mr Akufuna disclosed that the DAC will continue engaging with politicians, farmers, and government to ensure that farming inputs are distributed fairly in the district.
