Inspector General of Police Stella Libongani has advised police officers at Shangombo Police station to be observant of the universal Human rights of suspects while in detention.
Ms. Libongani says that Shangombo District being a border town makes her officers there to face a number of challenges unlike their counterparts in various parts of the country.
She said it was for this reason that government has put in place measures that will ensure that adequate resources are channeled to the police service in the area.
ZANIS reports that the Inspector General said this in an interview in Shangombo District on March 25th.
The police service is currently undertaking projects of rehabilitation of places that have suffered setbacks like Shangombo Police Station , she said.
And Shangombo Officer In Charge Margaret Msoni says she is happy that the Inspector General of Police took time to visit the police station and has assured the Inspector General that the officers will continue working hard.
Ms. Margaret Msoni has revealed that the Inspector General of Police has assure the police station that the blown away part will be renovated very soon as the part where blown out is where the holding cells are situated.
The inspector General of Police also toured and inspected the police residents. She arrived in Shangombo at 08:30 and her visit ended around 12:00.
