Katete District in 70 Million urban roads project

——Transformation of Katete District 15 Kilometer urban roads set to take course beginning April this year.

 

 

Katete District Council Secretary Wamulume Aoongola has praised the Patriotic Front (PF) government for answering to the plight of the people.

 

 

Mr. Aoongola said this in an interview with ZANIS in Katete district today.

 

He said that government through the Ministry of Local government and housing has released a total sum of 70 Million Kwacha for the upgrading of 15 kilometer urban roads in the district.

 

 

He stated that government has since engaged a Lusaka based contractor Nakangea contractors to undertake the works for the period of 14 months.

 

 

He explained that the rehabilitation works will see the listed major roads lifted from gravel to bituminous standard.

 

The council Secretary noted that among the roads to be worked on is St. Francis Mission Hospital inner road, Katete Girls Boarding School road, Katete District Council Area, Mountain View, roads leading to Cargil, Finance Bank, Katete Boma road among others.

 

Among the first roads to be worked on is the road leading into St. Francis Mission Hospital.

 

St. Francis Mission Hospital is one important institution in the district that’s needs to be treated with urgency and consideration.

 

Meanwhile the Council Secretary has appealed to members of the public that have encroached in the reserved land of the road to quickly vacate and pave way for the constructions.

 

 

The Council Secretary said people need to realize the benefit of the road and avoid doing things that derail development.
