Western Province Minister Josphine Limata has bemoaned the increasing cases of cattle rusting in and inadequate infrastructure for Police officers in the Province.
Speaking when Inspector General of Police Stella Libongani paid a call on her in Mongu, Ms Limata said cattle theft in districts sharing boundaries with neigbouring countries namely Kalabo, Sikongo and Shangombo among others was worrisome as it has become the order of the day.
She said people were stealing cattle from famers in the above mentioned districts and later crossing the animals to negibour countries.
Ms. Limata said efforts to help carb the vice by Zambia Police have so far proved futile due to limited manpower.
She explained that most police stations in the areas have less or no man power hence the need for the training of more police officers in the country.
Ms Libongani said with overwhelming support from government, police will endeavor to make make Zambia a safe and peaceful country.
