Nkana Football Club has reduced its chances of progressing into the group stage of the Confederations of African Championship league after recording a goalless draw with Zamalek football club of Egypt.
In a game played at Nkana stadium in Kitwe yesterday, Nkana played well both in the first and second half creating numerous scoring chances by failed to convert any goal.
Nkana star striker Ronald Kampamba and his colleague Bruce Musakanya had several chances but the Zamalek defence proved too good for the Nkana strikers.
In defence, Nkana enjoyed a solid defence which was anchored by Sidney Kalume and Christopher Mntali to deny the visitor any away goal which they could have loved at all costs.
On the other side, Zamaleki equally wasted several chances that could have made their progress in the league easier.
And speaking after the match Nkana football club coach Masautso Mwale said he was disappointed with his players’ failure to utilise the numerous scoring chances they had.
Mwale however, was optimistic that his team will progress into the group stage when the two teams meet in Cairo for the return match.
He said he will now look at the changes that can be made in preparation for the return match.
And Zamalek coach Ahmed Hassan Mido said he was happy with the result.
Mido was also optimistic that his team will beat Nkana in Cairo where Zamalek will have more supporters.
The two teams will meet in Cairo in Egypt for the return match and the winner will go into the group stage of the league.
