Zamalek coach Ahmed ‘Mido’ Hossam says he knows nothing about Zambian club Nkana FC because the club has not released any videos of their recent matches.
Zamalek will play Nkana FC in Lusaka on Saturday in the first leg of the African Champions League round of 16.
Upon his team departure, Mido complained that he knows nothing about his African opponents and said he hopes his team can recover quickly from their 0-1 league defeat to Masry on Monday.
The loss was the team’s first loss under Mido, who took over from Helmy Toulan in January and has overseen ten games so far.
Zamalek managing director Hamada Anwar said the coaching staff had been unable to watch any videos of Nkana’s recent matches.
“The Egyptian ambassador in Zambia told me the Zambian sports minister had ordered all authorities not to give us any videos of Nkana,” Anwar told Zamalek’s official website.
Five-time winners Zamalek, who last won the Champions League in 2002, qualified for the last round of 16 after holding Kabuscorp to a 0-0 draw in Angola to achieve a 1-0 aggregate win.
The second leg of the round of 16 is due to take place between 28 and 30 March in Cairo.
