United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema has urged Zambians not to be intimidated by the Patriotic Front through the use of the Zambia Police as they continue to push for the release of the final draft constitution.

Speaking when he welcomed to the party former Shang’ombo District Commissioner, Kabayo Masheke in Lusaka today, Mr. Hichilema says the continued use of Police to intimidate citizens is a sign of desperation on the part of the ruling party.

Mr. Hichilema says the recent arrest of about forty two youths by the police during youth day celebrations on Wednesday is a sign that the PF has resorted to using the Police to instill fear in those championing the release of the final draft constitution.

He says it is unfortunate that Police chose to arrest innocent youths who were not armed, when they could not arrest PF youth clad in camouflage attire and carrying dangerous.

Speaking earlier, UPND National Chairperson, Mutale Nalumango, says it’s high time the country had a young, vibrant, intelligent and energetic President who can take the country forward.

Ms Nalumango has urged Zambians not to vote for the PF during by-elections saying once they increase their numbers in parliament; it will be easy for them to manipulate the constitution.

And UPND Vice President for Politics, Dr. Canisius Banda, says the PF will be a one term project in government.
