Health Minister Joseph Kasonde has urged the newly appointed Board for the National Food and Nutrition Commission to set high standards for Food and Nutrition governance in order to stir the Commission towards achieving its goals.
Speaking when he unveiled the new twelve member board in Lusaka today, Dr Kasonde assured the board that government through the Ministry of Health will give them the necessary support through the provision of necessary resources within government’s capabilities to enable them meet their goals of promoting good Nutrition to the people of Zambia.
Dr.Kasonde is optimistic and confident that the board members will contribute efficiently and effectively to achieving the goals of the Commission having been part of NFNC family.
He expressed sadness that Malnutrition has contributed to affect the country negatively for many years.
Dr Kasonde stated that the Patriotic Front government will remain committed to fighting Malnutrition and its offshoots of stunting and obesity.
And Board Chairperson, Chifumbe Chintu pledged to broaden their scope by looking into obesity and not only stunting.
