THE Lusaka pair of Dan Mulukutila and Ruth Zuze at the weekend showed their class by winning the Zambia Ladies Golf Union (ZLGU) fundraising tournament in Lusaka.
Apart from being a ZLGU fundraising tournament, the event was also held to commemorate the International Women’s Day.
Mulukutila and Zuze brought home a combined score of 69.2 points to reign supreme in the tournament that attracted 24 teams.
The winning duo were closely followed in second place by the Mbambara pair of Joel and Dolly who carded 69.7 points.
Finishing in third place was Lorna Mwenda and her partner, Kasongole Chongo who posted 71.4 points.
Chainama Hills Golf Club captain, Killian Mwela and Chola Oka settled for the fourth place after carding 71.6 points with Steven Mbewe and Judy Graham finishing in fifth position.
ZLGU president, Moono Mwila said she was happy with the large turn out and praised the men for being gracious enough to play in the tournament which also part of celebrations for the International Women’s Day.
“We are happy all you men came to this tournament to help us commemorate the International Women’s Day. “Thanks for showing your golfing partners that you care and most especially for helping us raise money to help out programmes for this year,” Mwila said.
She said the tournament had managed to put more than K13, 000 into the ZLGU kitty.
Among the programmes the ZLGU has this year is the Zambia Ladies Open Championship taking place this monthend in Ndola and sending a team to the A&B Triangular Golf tournament in Kenya.
