A 27 year old woman of chief Mulundu in Mwense district has been brutally murdered by her husband. Luapula province police commissioner Malcom Mulenga who confirmed the development to ZANIS in Mwense said the incident happened on Tuesday march 4, 2014 around 09:00 hours at Ntembe farms. Mr. Mulenga named the deceased as Eunice Bwalya aged 27 of Kabila village in chief Mulundu in Mwense district and the accused as Kasongo Sailosi aged 38 a Congolese national.
He said the duo was on separation but that the husband insisted to reunite with his wife who kept on refusing. Mr. Mulenga said Sailosi was then incensed by her refusal to reunite and when he learned that her wife had gone to the farm, he followed her with an axe and brutally murdered her. The police commissioner said the deceased sustained deep cuts on her forehead, below the left eye and on her private parts. Mr. Mulenga said the body of the deceased is in Mambilima hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem while the accused has since been taken to mansa for more questioning.
The police commissioner said the Provincial Joint Operations Committee (PJOC) has instituted the investigation to ascertain the whereabouts of the accused. And in a related development, a 19 year old man of the same area died on the spot after he was hit by unknown vehicle. The police commissioner named the deceased as Earnest Lubunde whom he said was riding his bicycle along Mansa-Kashikishi road when he met his fate. He said the incident happened on Monday march 3, 2014 around 15 hours 31 kilometers from Mwense boma. Mr. Mulenga said the body of the deceased is in Mambilima hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
