——-8,000 Dogs were vaccinated in Choma
District during the just ended vaccination programme.
Speaking to ZANIS in Choma today Veterinary district officer Dr. Alex
Hachangu said this in an interview in Choma District, today.
Dr. Hachangu said more dogs need to vaccinated as Choma has a population
of 13,655 dogs.
He said un-vaccinated dogs usually can spread rabies to people if they
get bitten.
He said the vaccine is still available and that people with
un-vaccinated animals can still bring them for vaccination at a fee of
10 kwacha.
Dr Hachangu warned that people should be wary of cats because they
were also carriers of rabies, hence the need for them to equally be
taken for vaccination.
